ABOUT

Folking Around is an independent acoustic showcase night held at Woody’s Bar, Kingston, on the first Thursday of every month. From hushed and delicate singer-songwriters to rowdy and rambunctious bands, Folking Around is dedicated to presenting high quality, contemporary folk, blues and acoustic music from the local scene, London and beyond.

FOLKING IT UP SINCE 2013

Established seven years ago, the night has grown to receive a loyal following based on our commitment to bringing exceptional musicians, from varying backgrounds and influences, to our intimate riverside venue in the heart of Kingston-upon-Thames.

WHO WE ARE

A non-profit organisation, Folking Around was formed in the spring of 2013 by two local musicians; Jacob Daley, a private music tutor; and Ricky O’Donnell, resident guitarist at Piano Works, as well as performing regularly with his band Eddy Smith and the 507. In the winter of 2020 the team expanded to introduce Niamh Downes, singer-songwriter under the moniker Neev.

Our aim is simple; encourage and promote live music, from folk to blues and beyond… because all music is folk music
